By definition, fundamental is: a central or primary rule or principle on which something is based.

This week’s Ice Chip celebrates cresting the wave of 8 years for this weekly commentary on cleaning up the lexicographical landscape littered with lazy language. It is focused on the importance of “fundamentals”.

Eradicating “(K)notty Words” is and has been a full time labor of love for me. The fundamental principles are: words mean things and clarity is power. The Remember the Ice fundamentals were born on July 23, 1991 and the story of this simple shift in word choice has been told thousands of times. It is a fundamental step in crafting a better message.

Whatever your endeavor, there are basic fundamentals for you to master.
