Remember the Ice is a company’s best friend when it comes to crafting a message to promote products, prepare sales and marketing scripts / brochures and the content on their website.
For this week’s Ice Chip, the focus is on Marketing and Word Choice.
Marketing is the process of communicating the value of a product or service to customers, for the purpose of selling that product or service.
I want to make a significant point about the power of your word choice in your marketing message. Here is a powerful example:
In Utah, there is a prominent bank with a history dating back to 1873. Zions Bank has a proud tradition of leadership in the banking industry. Here is an excerpt from their home page: From the vision of founder Brigham Young to the reality of one of the nation’s most impressive banking organizations, Zions continues to be a pioneer in banking.
As a consumer who pays attention to marketing messages, I have concern for Zions motto.
Here is where the power of Word Choice illuminates an innocent, yet significant in-congruence in one’s message.
We know that when a “not” or “n’t” is attached to a word, it strangles the host! The end result is the opposite message is bellowed out!
In this case, Zions has inadvertently told the world,
“We haven’t forgotten who keeps us in business.”
At Remember the Ice, we help companies re-frame their message, AND attract more business.
How quickly would you like to have help re-framing your message?
Now, you say.
